roasted salmon and veggies made by the man who doesn’t like to cook, fruli and founders nemesis = one happy, tipsy regi
I knew Santa wouldn’t forget about me. I got a yogurt maker and a KitchenAid and lots of other awesome foodie gifts! More later.
Awesome day. Breakfast at Keys (WTF Jay’s, not opening ‘til 11!?!?), Walker (sad the dolphin is leaving), cookies and cocoa at Rustica, then UNITED NOODLE. Mashdad is the greatest.
I got so much good stuff at UN, including-
Vitasoy malted soymilk
big pot of miso
6-grain rice blend (for eatin’ and maybe making milk)
mirin
glutinous rice dumplings
coconut milk
yellow curry paste
extra soft tofu
gado-gado dressing
crunchy fried kelp and nori-wrapped rice crackers
Indonesian instant ramen - always has been, always will be my guilty pleasure
And now I will browse my library-fresh copy of Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar instead of doing homework. Can every day be like today?
Chopping butternut squash, broccoli and onions to obnoxiously loud music made for a surprisingly relaxing Sunday evening. It was almost as fun as impromptu Saturday morning Comcast on demand karaoke.
I know I’ll be grateful for all the extra prep work I did tonight, because I’ll be scrambling for my 4 hour, 7 a.m. tests on Saturday. Ugh. But it’s okay, ‘cause I’ll still get to eat this and this and homemade lasagna!
How lucky am I? Garlic Fest AND a lovely dinner date…delicious cheeses, tapenade, garlic confit, salad, ciabatta and fruit. Thanks Jenn!
Garlic Fest was a blast. Highlights included:
- the garlic wheel of fortune
- garlic chocolate chip cookies
- sampling Georgian fire garlic (whoa! I had no idea there were so many different kinds of garlic. We sampled at least 6 today)
- garlic ice cream, of course!
- The Great Scape café and its overwhelming amazing condiment bar
- getting snubbed by a snooty llama
- the Brazilian jazz version of wrap-it-up music
- a guy wearing a shirt that said Yo Quiero Ajo Garlic
- chewing gum the entire ride home
Breakfast consisted of fresh soymilk from my new soymilk maker(!), and chocolate stout cake (in both batter and cooked form). A more detailed post on the stout cake will come - it is fantastic. I sure wish I could spend every morning birthday style.
